Position Imaging Inc., a provider of parcel logistics and asset tracking, introduced iPickup RooM, an entry-level system that provides resident access and pickup functionality like its computer vision predecessor, the Smart Package Room, according to a press release.

The new system ensures constant surveillance within the parcel room and manages items in the room by type (flat, parcel or oversized), using zone signage for guidance.

The system uses an intuitive display screen mounted outside the entrance to the iPickup room, where couriers enter the room and scan labels for parcel registration. Once the system “reads” the label on the package and the courier or janitor places the package in the room, the system automatically associates the location of the package with the resident, then notifies the resident that their package has arrived and sends a QR and PIN code for room access.

The resident scans the QR code or enters the PIN code from their mobile device to enter the room. Labeling and audio signals guide the resident to the location of the package and a full audit trail of the entire process is created for safety and accountability.
